In order to be allow to transport hazardous goods driver must have obtained the ADR course certificate. Once they have successfully completed the course, the certificate is issued for a limited period (for five years). Driver who do not have this certificate may only transport hazardous goods to a limited extent and while adhering to specific rules. Anyone involved in transporting hazardous goods must have expertise in the regulations governing the area of hazardous goods. These can be obtained in our regularly-run courses.
By law a special ADR permits is required for certain types of vehicles used for transporting certain hazardous goods (such as tanking vehicles, vehicles for transporting larger quantities of explosives). This require additional technical safety features. In addition to this, with transports of hazardous good, the safety equipment described in the “written instructions (on the one hand to protect the driver but also as a tool to help remove any hazardous goods escaped, for securing the scene of the accidents and for fire-fighting measures) must be in the vehicle. This depends on the substances transported. By law the vehicles and the goods themselves must be labelled, and the driver must have certain transport documents.
